Oakland Farm Wedding | Faith + Jeremy and Liz + Tony

Two married couples at an Oakland Farm wedding

Faith and Jeremy and Liz and Tony’s Oakland Farm wedding was beautiful, simplistic, and full of joy. Prior to COVID-19, Faith and Liz had decided to follow in their mom’s footsteps and host a double wedding! Although plans were forced to change amidst the pandemic, an intimate family ceremony was able to occur on their original October date.

When we first met with Faith, she had just gotten engaged to Jeremy on the beach and had fallen in love with Oakland Farm. Before we officially booked, her twin, Liz, had gotten engaged to Tony on a trip to the mountains and their plans for a double wedding were solidified! We were so excited to work with both sisters on their dream day as their full-service planners. We could not wait to book vendors and design this dream of a day.

For one of our first planning meetings, we met at Oakland Farm in Bear Creek, NC for a walk through of the property. Once you enter the property, there are pastures that line the driveway with adorable oreo cows (also known as Galloway cows!) Further in you will see the farmhouse, which is a great getting ready suite or a place to stay overnight, followed by the large barn. Inside, the barn offers a pine, rustic ballroom complete with a fireplace and antler chandeliers, a getting ready suite, and a large catering kitchen. It is the perfect mix of rustic-chic with classic details. Behind the barn, is the covered pavilion, which is perfect for draping and creating an elegant atmosphere outside. It is also a built-in rain plan- no need for a tent!

After touring the venue, we set out to design a picturesque, romantic day for the twins! Both girls are outdoorsy and love nature and wanted to incorporate that into their wedding day while keeping the design classic and elegant. We settled on a soft, romantic color palette of dusty blue, sage green, and ivory with accents of gold and wood. We added a lot of floral elements in the color palette, including a lush arrangement on the ceremony cross, which was included with the venue, and cohesive bouquets for Faith and Liz. We added romantic draping to the pavilion to create even more romantic vibes.

On the wedding day, as our plans were coming to fruition, it was clear that Oakland Farm was the perfect backdrop for Faith and Liz’s dream rustic-chic wedding. While the girls got ready in The Farmhouse, the boys were able to hangout in the getting ready suite in the barn. It was a great weather day with no rain in sight. Luckily, the North Carolina weather cooperated and it wasn’t even too hot! After Faith and Liz’s dad walked them down the aisle in tandem to their grooms, we had a personalized and unique ceremony officiated by the girls’ pastor. In lieu of their large reception, we celebrated their marriage with a small cocktail hour on the patio with pizza, fun drinks, and cupcakes. Lastly, we ended the evening with each couple sharing a first dance as the sun was setting.

Our absolute favorite aspect of this wedding was the ceremony and getting the chance to hear more about each couple’s love story. Having your twin sister at the altar with you as you say your vows has to be one of the best moments. Twin weddings are now one of our favorite wedding themes! We have huge plans for their large wedding reception that is planned for their one year anniversary at Oakland Farm! We’re excited to go back and execute all of the rustic-elegant elements that we had planned for the reception! This wedding was also featured on The Heart of NC Weddings Blog- check it out here!
